Which items are authorised for repeat prescriptions?
Each repeat prescription has a printed list of medicines. This is a list of the medicines which the doctor has authorised for you to receive by repeat prescription request.
Internet Online Services (Repeat Prescription and Appointment Booking)
The ability to order repeat prescriptions and book appointments online, through our practice website www.eaglehouseblandford.nhs.uk , is now available to patients who register to use those services online in addition to the more traditional methods.
To have access to these online facilities you must first register to use them by obtaining the necessary registration letter from the surgery, which will be issued once you have presented in person the necessary proof of identity, which can be any of the following
Birth Certificate Driving Licence Passport
Utility Bill Solicitors Letter Offer of Tenancy
Completing the registration process on the internet requires you to enter the information generated and printed on the registration letter given to you at the surgery, and for you to create a password and also enter security details that no one else will know. The system will then issue you with a User Id which, together you’re your password, will be required each time you wish to order a repeat prescription or book an appointment online.
Booking of online appointments is restricted initially to booking up to 2 weeks in advanced.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
Electronic Repeat Dispensing
If you are on regular daily medication the use of the Electronic Repeat Dispensing service would be of great benefit to you and the details below explain what it is and how it works.
Great strides have been made in recent times to improve patient’s experiences in ordering and requesting medication prescriptions.
The introduction of Patient Access Service and the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) over the last year has made it so much easier for Patients to manage their medication requirements without even visiting the GP Practice.
Patient Access Services - amongst the many facilities this service provides is to allow patients to order their repeat prescriptions directly online.
Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) – this allows the GP to electronically send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.
Both of these services together mean you no longer have to go to your GP to collect your repeat prescription, just visit the Pharmacy you have nominated to collect your medication.
Now with Electronic Repeat Dispensing you can obtain your repeat medications from the pharmacy of your choice without having to contact the surgery to order a prescription as your prescription is automatically sent to them when your medication is due.
What you need to do
When do you need to contact the surgery?
What about "as required" medication?
If you have any questions about how Electronic Repeat Dispensing will work for you, please do ask the staff at your nominated Pharmacy, or contact our Medicines Management Team at the surgery.
